Passed away at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket on Thursday, August 8, 2024, aged 63 years.

Kevin was the loving husband of Barbara Parry for 16 years, and “Big Daddy” to dogs Meadow and Joey, as well as the large reptile family. He was the beloved son of Gladys and the late Don Head, and pre-deceased by his big brother, Glenn.

Kevin was born and grew up in East York…a true Torontonian! He was very creative, and in his youth, he attended the special arts program at George S. Vanier Secondary School. He went on to be a Jack-of-all-Trades, including working as a locksmith, a heavy equipment operator, a stone yard assistant and a security guard — but most of his career was spent in the Canadian Tire Distribution Centre, where he worked for 18 years, driving power equipment and training other employees.

One of Kevin’s big passions was archery. He was an active member of York County Bowmen and spent many years on the Board of Directors. He also taught in the YCB archery school (where he met Barb) and competed at national level in lots of tournaments around Ontario. As well, Kevin enjoyed woodworking and DIY (he could fix or build just about anything), and spending time at his parents’ cottage on Kahshe Lake in Muskoka, that he helped build and maintain for over 40 years. In addition, Kevin was a very proud volunteer for the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program, and helped out at many events and new team evaluations.

The family would like to thank all of our amazing friends that have supported us through this very difficult time, especially Mark & Kim (and Hank, the SJA Therapy Dog) and Sara Hawton. And special thanks to all the wonderful, caring staff at Southlake who looked after Kevin during his several stays there.

We are holding an informal Celebration of Life to remember Kevin at Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. South, Newmarket on Sunday, September 15, from 2pm-4pm. All friends are welcome — please come and share your memories and stories about Kevin with those who knew him!

If you wish to make a donation, please consider giving to the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program – a worthy and valuable cause that was near and dear to Kevin’s heart.
