May 27th, 1943 - March 10th, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David Gebbie, who left us peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, on March 10th, 2025, in his 82nd year.
Loving husband of Jean for 61 beautiful years. Beloved father of Audrey and Lorraine. Proud Papa of Whitney and Keavney. Elated Great-Papa to Poppy and Baby Moody, expected in June.
Loving brother to Margaret, Christine, and late Edward. Dear son of the late Edward and Margaret Gebbie.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, David immigrated to Canada in 1966, where he began a new chapter with his wife and twin daughters.
David adored spending time with his family, with their home being filled with laughter and warmth when loved ones gathered. As an avid traveller with Jean, he cherished exploring new places and experiencing the world with a sense of curiosity and wonder.
A man of many passions, David had an unwavering love for golf. With a chunk of his time being spent as a Golf Marshal, there were also many days spent enjoying a round with Jean and friends. His green thumb was just as impressive, and his garden was a testament to the care and patience he brought to everything he did.
A true Scot at heart, David was loyal to his Celtics football team, never missing a game and always cheering them on with the fervor of a lifelong fan. His love for his roots never wavered, and he shared his passion for the team with anyone willing to listen.
David worked at IBM for 35 years. He managed his team with dedication and pride. His work ethic and commitment to excellence earned him the respect of his colleagues and left a lasting impact on the company.
Though he will be deeply missed, David leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and joy. He was a loving father, a devoted husband, and a cherished friend. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Operation Smile and The War Amps in his memory.
A celebration of David Gebbie’s life will be held at Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home on April 11th, at 12PM, where we will honor the remarkable life, he lived. The service will be live streamed for those who cannot attend in person. Click Here to Watch the Service
