FALBO, Rita Lillian (Challoner)

Rita Lillian Falbo, nee Challoner, passed away peacefully at Bloomington Cove Care Comunity in Stouffville, on Tuesday July 9,2024. A loving wife to the late Frank Falbo (1997) for 52 years. She was the beloved mother of Glenis Falbo (Tom Murtagh), Suzanne Lutwick (Larry Lutwick) and Paul Falbo (Catherine Falbo) and the Late Stephen Falbo. She was the proud grandmother of 6, Rachel, Zachary, Arielle, Jonina, Nicholas and Daniel and great grandmother to 12.
Rita was the sister of Kathleen Mahony and George Challoner and the late, Joan Robinson Glenis Wild, and William Challoner. Her parents were the late Edith and William Challoner.
Rita was born in northern England in 1927 and emigrated from there as a war bride in 1945. While she initially lived in the USA she came to Canada in 1954 and lived in Newmarket for the duration of her life. As a homemaker, she was devoted to her family and always had a kind giving heart. She and Frank were foster parents to at least 13 children and one of those children remained with the family until adulthood. She was an extremely talented and innovative seamstress creating ,over the years ,the most beautiful clothing for her family and making dance costumes for the local dance studio.

The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at the Bloomington Cove Care Community for their kindness and the wonderful care they showed our mother.

The immediate family held a private visitation on Thursday July 11, 2024. Friends may call at a Celebration of Life which will be held at the Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St S. Newmarket on Saturday July 27, 2024, at 1:00PM-3:00PM followed by interment at Newmarket Cemetery.
