Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in her home in Newmarket, on March 15, 2025, in her 93rd year. Alice Dionne, formerly of Sharon. Beloved wife of the late Bill Dionne. Daughter of the late Margaret Wood. Dearly loved mother of Maryanne and her husband Reed Bodwell, Phillip Dionne and his wife Dympna, Gerry and her husband Gary Baldwin, Frances Dionne and her husband Dan Allison, Anthony Dionne and his wife Lynn, John Dionne and his wife Sherry, and Martin Dionne. Proud and loving Nana to Samuel, Alicia, David, Anthony, Kevin, Nikki, T.J., Katie, Christopher, Mathew, Barrett, Sean, and Oliver. Loving Great-Nana to Jericho, Leila, Phoebe, Sofie, James, and Margot.
Alice was dedicated to her family and her community at large. Aside from raising her seven children she was very involved in the world she helped build and shape in Sharon. She was a member of the famous Villa Nova Homebuilders Co-Operative and had a hand in building the Catholic school in Sharon as well as the mission church which would eventually stand beside the school. For many years she was the leader of the local Girl Guide Troop. Her greatest involvement was with the Catholic Women’s League; later the Catholic Women’s Guild. She held many positions in the Guild over the years including a time as president. She is remembered especially as the hostess of the annual Christmas Bazaar for the C.W.G.
Friends may call at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket, on Tuesday, March 18 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish, 17955 Leslie Street, Newmarket, on Wednesday, March 19 at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to join the family for refreshments in the parish hall following the mass.
