It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Alice Bergin neé Young, on July 20, 2024 in her 93rd year.
Loving wife of Joseph (deceased 2015), for 55 years. Beloved mother of Frank (Debbie), Bob (Sybille), John (Mary) and Carole. Proud grandmother of Alex (Rachael), Chris (Courtney), Shannon (Tyler), Juliana (Kaley), Katja (Karl), Peter (Yvette), Raquel(Jason) and Mitchell (Katie) and great grandmother of James and Jordan.
Predeceased by brothers Harry, John and George Young.
Mary was an exceptional mother and was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to spending time with her family, she spent her lifetime volunteering. She was the founding member of the St. John’s Young at Heart group and past President of the Canadian Cancer Society, York Region. She was a former Newmarket Citizen of the Year award recipient. She was also an original board member of the Newmarket Seniors Meeting Place.
Mary and Joe spent many years travelling together including several trips to Portugal.
Friends may call at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S., Newmarket on Tuesday, July 23rd from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral mass at St. John Chrysostom Church, 432 Ontario Street, Newmarket, on Wednesday July 24th at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St John’s Cemetery, 250 Old Main Street North, Newmarket.
