Grant Edmund Bellavance passed away at home on January 14th in his 73 year. Loving, lively and devoted husband of Donnalee (nee O’Hara) for 44 years. Beloved father to Andrew (Erin). He was absolutely giddy with love & cherished his three grandchildren, Sasha, Lainey and Tanner.
Grant was one of eight born to Edouard and Sophia (Usick) Bellavance. Sister Patricia St Louis followed by Barbara Godkin (deceased). Then along came Grant, Peter, Paula (Trevor Harrison), Michelle (Martin Armstrong), Joseph (deceased), Annette (Shawn McCallum). He is uncle to 12 and great uncle to 5. Grant spent many years with the Newmarket Hockey Association as manager/convenor to Andrew’s teams. Then just enjoyed being a soccer spectator during the summer. Once retired from Bell Canada, he truly enjoyed life up north; building, landscaping, driving the tractor, barbecuing.
To the exceptional team of Doctors Boutell, Taremi, Lebner & Cho at the Stronach Cancer Centre, thank-you! You & your staff are phenomenal. You will never know how much your empathy and very caring ways meant to Grant & I. He appreciated you all very much. We are requesting memorial donations be made to the Stronach Centre as was his wish.
His silliness, goofy gags & non funny jokes will be missed.
“This time, Lord you gave me a mountain, a mountain you know I may never climb, It isn't just a hill any longer, You gave me a mountain this time.”
Rest comfortably, G-Bird. Your climb is over.
A Celebration of Grant's Life will be held on the upper level of Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home (157 Main Street South, Newmarket) on Sunday, January 21st from 1-3 PM. A service will take place at 2 PM.
