January 29th, 1925 - November 24th, 2024
(Vivian) Noreen Andrews passed away peacefully on November 24 at Southlake Village LTC Newmarket. Beloved Mother of Tom (Edie) and Doug (Anita) and very proud Nana of Zachary and Lindsay. Predeceased by her husband Bruce, parents William Henry and Ellen Mary Coulson (Lawton).
Mom was 99, only 2 months away from her 100th Birthday. In the last few years she was determined to make it to 100 and then savour the promised, grand party surrounded by her family and friends. However, with Dad's passing, the appeal of reaching that milestone gradually lost its attractiveness as she realized the experience and her enjoyment wouldn't be the same without the love of her life, Bruce, by her side. Mom and Dad were true soulmates and always at their best when they were together.
Mom was not an overly religious person, but she never went to bed without saying her prayers to keep her loved ones safe and well.
She gained a knowledge and enjoyment of baseball by watching Dad play, which turned her into an avid fan of the Blue Jays.
Mom retired from the TD Bank after working in banking most of her adult life.
Acquiring the cottage on Crystal Lake was a life changing event for Mom. She said it was the best thing they ever did and her happiest memories were made there. There was always a crowd at our cottage, a mixture of Doug's and my friends, with laughter booming off the walls, and where the euchre tournaments were legendary.
Mom saw good in everyone. She believed that kindness was the most important human behaviour. She tried to always be kind and looked for kindness in others. She loved being with people, and enjoyed playing cards at Holland Landing, Aurora Seniors and with friends. She was an avid reader of the newspaper and books and solver of jigsaw puzzles. Her grandchildren, Lindsay and Zach, were frequent visitors who could always bring a smile to her face and joy to her heart. Her laughter and vibrancy will be sorely missed.
Thank you to the many carers who helped her to stay in her beloved condo until very recently. Thanks to the caregivers at the Elden, Southlake Hospital and Southlake Village LTC who looked after her in the final months. A Special thank you to Dr. Katie Mulhern, whose care and compassion was so appreciated by the entire family.
There will be a private family memorial.
