30-Aug-1949 - 16-Jan-2025
With Heavy hearts we announce the passing of George David Adams, also known to his closest loved ones as Bear, Daddy, and Papa, at the age of 75. George passed away peacefully with his wife by his side at Southlake Regional Hospital on January 16, 2025.
Born on August 30, 1949, in Elgin Mills, Ontario, George was the son of William John Adams and Helen Doreen Adams (Hazelden), and brother to William (Bill) Adams, Phillip (Phil) Adams and Peter (Pete) Adams.
George is survived by his loving wife Liz Marshall, his daughter Samantha Umphrey (Adams), son-in-law Mark Umphrey and grandson Eli Umphrey.
He is fondly remembered by all his nieces and nephews as well as his grandnieces and grandnephews.
George had a passion for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Harley’s, and making sure his loved ones were well taken care of. His favourite summer activity was taking his wife for a spin in his beloved Corvette convertible.
George put in over 40 years working for Canadian National Railway, finishing his career as an Account Manager in the Marketing department. During his tenure at CN, he brought home many achievements, including a Presidents Award for Excellence in 2006 for his work in helping DeBeers Canada in opening a diamond mine in the far Northern reaches of Ontario.
George’s greatest happiness was his family. He felt great pleasure cheering on his daughters’ career in rail transportation and doting on his only grandson Eli.
Words cannot express how much his family will miss him.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held for George at Taylor Funeral Home, 524 Davis Drive Newmarket on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Words of Tribute to be shared at 2:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place and an interment of his urn will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
