Paula Mandelzys is a kind and compassionate member of our community, who works tirelessly as the head cook at Inn From the Cold, Newmarket’s shelter for those who are unhoused or in need.
Each and every day, she prepares warm and healthy meals for her clients, making sure they are fed and cared for well.
Paula is known for having a great sense of humour and always filling the kitchen with laughter.
In addition, she teaches cooking classes to help clients in the Inn From the Cold housing program learn how to cook for themselves. This has allowed many clients to learn valuable life skills and gain confidence.
NewmarketToday was delighted to surprise Paula with a Random Act of Kindness to recognize the impact she makes on the community.
The team showed up to the kitchen at Inn From the Cold and gifted her with a spa day, a trip to the hair salon and a floral arrangement.
“I was completely flabbergasted,” Paula said when asked about her surprise.
“I just love doing what I do and the people that I work with,” she shared.
“Paula works so hard with her amazing team at Inn From the Cold to make sure everyone gets healthy meals. She loves making a difference in people’s lives and this nomination just shows how much her work matters,” said Martha Berry, finance and administrative manager at Inn From the Cold. “She cares very much for our community.”
Thank you to our generous co-sponsors, Dawson Manor Spa, Sparkle Hair Extension Bar and Fairty Girls Flower Farm for making this Random Act of Kindness possible.
