WHL Roundup: Daniel Hauser sets all-time wins record as Hitmen beat Rebels

CALGARY — Calgary Hitmen goalie Daniel Hauser set a new Western Hockey League record for wins with a 5-1 victory over the Red Deer Rebels on Wednesday.

Hauser posted 21 saves to collect his 123rd win, eclipsing the previous mark set by Saskatoon Blades netminder Nolan Maier in April 2022.

The 21-year-old from Chestermere, Alta., now has a 123-36-9 record with a 2.59 goals-against average, a .910 save percentage and 17 shutouts in 175 WHL starts.

Hauser earned his first victory with the Winnipeg Ice — who drafted him in the sixth round in 2019 — on March 15, 2021. He also had a record-setting start to his career, posting a 20-0-2 stretch before his first regulation loss.

The 5-foot-11, 166-pound netminder played parts of five seasons with the organization, which became the Wenatchee Wild in 2023-24, before being traded to the Hitmen in January.

Hauser has an impressive 20-4-0 record with a 1.94 goals-against average, a .924 save percentage and five shutouts since the move.

Ethan Moore and Sawyer Mynio each had a goal and an assist on Wednesday to help Hauser set the record.

Carson Wetsch, Brandon Gorzynski and Hunter Aura also scored for Calgary (44-16-6), while Oliver Tulk had two assists.

Samuel Drancak beat Hauser for Red Deer's (26-32-8) only goal. Rebels' goaltender Peyton Shore saved 25 of 30 shots.

The Hitmen are headed to the WHL playoffs, while the Rebels will miss out.
