Despite taking an early lead in the friendly game against the visiting St. George's U.K. lacrosse team, the Newmarket Redbirds U19 girls team wrapped up a successful season last night with a loss.
The final score in the hard-fought game was 15-8 for St. George's.
The Redbirds team, which recently won a bronze medal in the Ontario Women’s Field Lacrosse U19 Rep A competition in Oshawa after a pandemic hiatus, also marked a return to the tradition of hosting international teams for friendly play July 25 in Aurora.
The game with the team from St. George's School in Harpenden, England was kept to U18 to match the ages of their opponents.
