High school football athletes from across the country will be coming to Vaughan for the Canadian High School Football Showcase led by a CFL star on Jan. 17.

"This one-day event offers an unparalleled opportunity for Canadian high school football athletes, ages 13 and up, to showcase their talent, develop their skills, and earn a spot at the prestigious National Scouting Combine in Edmonton, May 2025, featuring top NCAA Division I and II and U Sports schools," a Canadian High School Football Showcase news release stated.

Led by Shamawd Chambers, CFL star and Grey Cup Champion, the event includes:

  • skill drills and position training: tailored sessions guided by former professional athletes and seasoned coaches to refine skills and performance.
  • football IQ assessments: evaluations designed to highlight athletic and strategic abilities to scouts.
  • networking opportunities: direct engagement with scouts, coaches, and industry leaders from North America’s top programs.
  • performance tracking: real-time data collection to offer valuable insights into athletic strengths and areas of improvement.

"The CHSFS isn’t just about football — it’s a holistic approach to youth development, education, and community engagement," the release stated.

This year’s showcase will feature more than 100 of Canada’s top high school athletes, emphasizing:

  • talent showcase: connecting athletes with NCAA programs to support their athletic and academic dreams.
  • scholarship support: alleviating financial barriers with sponsorships covering travel, accommodation, and registration fees.
  • community impact: promoting teamwork, discipline, and leadership both on and off the field.

Last year, nine athletes earned NCAA offers and six were selected for IMG Academy, North America’s premier football institution, the organization said.
