To prepare for the 2022 municipal election, York Region District School Board is undertaking a review of school board trustee electoral areas, in what is officially called a Trustee Determination and Distribution Study.

“The Board of Trustees is committed to ensuring that, as the region’s population changes, electoral areas reflect the communities we serve,” said board chair Cynthia Cordova. “The board has retained the services of a consultant to conduct a review and prepare recommendations for the board’s consideration on the trustee electoral area boundaries.”

Public input is important to the Board of Trustees during the electoral area review. Throughout the process, there will be a number of ways for public school supporters in York Region to learn more about the review and to provide input.

Input can be provided through an online survey that will be available May 14 to June 18 on the board website, as well as virtual webinars open to the public.

Information on the trustee electoral areas review, including process, timelines, presentations and reports is available on the board’s website

YRDSB’s current trustee areas have been in place since the 2014 election. Since then, there has been considerable growth across York Region. The goal of this detailed review is to ensure fair and equitable representation of all public school supporters.
