An interactive presentation by youth and for youth is being offered at the start of the school year to help students develop coping strategies and manage mental health challenges.

On Wednesday, Sept. 8 from 8 to 9 p.m., York Region's YouthSpeak is hosting a free online youth-led workshop for kids in grades 7 to 12, however, parents and educators are also invited to sign up.

The organization aims to “create important conversations promoting well-being, compassion and hope, by empowering youth to share personal stories and coping strategies,” according to their website.

This workshop, which will be held virtually, will cover topics such as loneliness, anxiety, and building resilience in tough times.

During the presentation, trained youth will share their personal stories from the pandemic and how they’ve found success with self-care.

Registration for the workshop, called Empowering Minds for New Times, is free on Eventbrite online.
