If you get a parking ticket in Georgina, you can turn something naughty into something nice with the return of the Toys for Tickets program.
If you receive a ticket between Nov. 18 and Dec. 4 between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. for parking on town roads when it is banned, you can choose to pay the ticket with a new, unwrapped toy equal to or greater than the amount of the fine, the town said in a news release. All toys received will be distributed through a local charity.
The program also serves as a reminder to residents and visitors that under the town’s traffic and parking control bylaw, they cannot park overnight, between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m., from Nov. 15 of each year to April 15 of the following year.
The toy’s receipt and the parking violation must be presented at the time of payment and toys will only be accepted by Service Georgina at the Civic Centre.
