You can support Southlake Regional Health Centre simply by eating at McDonalds in Newmarket and Aurora tomorrow.

Wednesday, May 11 is McHappy Day, when a portion of the proceeds from all food and beverage items sold all day will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and local restaurants will also be donating to the Newmarket hospital.

There will also be some familiar faces and notable Newmarket names participating.

Arden Krystal, CEO of Southlake, and Jennifer Klotz-Ritter, CEO of Southlake Foundation, will be at the restaurant on Davis Drive from 11 a.m. to noon, Mayor John Taylor will be at the Eagle Street location from 11 a.m. to noon, and other town councillors, York Regional Police, Central York Fire Services, Southlake staff and others will be helping out throughout the day.

You can do your part by placing an order in the restaurant or through the drive-thru, McDonalds app or food delivery app.

Customers can also round up their purchases to support RMHC all year round.

"McHappy Day provides a special opportunity for our communities from coast-to-coast-to-coast to come together and support families with a sick child during their most challenging times," said Kate Horton, executive director of RMHC Canada.

The annual event has been going on since 1977 and funds raised have supported 436,000 families across Canada.

Participating McDonalds locations in Newmarket are located at 17155 Yonge St. (Eagle), 1100 Davis Dr. and  17760 Yonge (Dawson Manor Blvd).
