On Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, York Region is pleased to offer free transit service throughout York Region Transit (YRT) and Mobility On-Request to veterans and immediate family of a deceased veteran.
Veterans and one companion can ride free by identifying themselves to YRT and Mobility On-Request operators by showing a uniform, medal, beret or blazer. Immediate family of deceased veterans may ride free by presenting an item that identifies their relationship such as an identification card or service papers.
To honour the sacrifices made for all Canadians, at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2020, all YRT and Mobility On-Request services will observe two minutes of silence by pulling over and stopping vehicles (safety permitting).
