York Region is home to four of Canada’s top 10 research and development companies, noted primarily for utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning that’s helping to transform sectors within the financial, health care, building and construction industries, and more.
It’s against this backdrop that the Regional Municipality of York’s economic development team, York Link, hosts the 2018 York Region FinTech Summit, in partnership with all nine municipalities in the region.
FinTech, or financial technology, is the moniker given to digital innovations in the finance sector including retail banking, customer experience and service, investments, crypto-currencies such as bitcoin, and more.
A new World Economic Forum report on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on financial services points to upcoming competitive challenges and questions around regulatory and social implications.
The report’s lead author, Denizhan Uykur, a senior consultant at Monitor Deloitte in Toronto, will deliver the keynote address on the report and its key findings.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to learn more about emerging trends, new technologies and the solutions transforming the FinTech industry from a variety of exhibitors, presentations from industry leaders, networking, and a post-summit reception.
The 2018 York Region FinTech Summit is on Thursday, Nov. 8 from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Toronto Marriott Markham Conference Centre, 170 Enterprise Blvd., Markham.
