As part of Woman Abuse Prevention Month, Yellow Brick House is holding two initiatives to raise awareness, foster community engagement, and support survivors of domestic violence.
The initiatives include a November Matching Campaign with the Grey Birch Foundation and a Youth Art Workshop and Show in partnership with the Richmond Hill Art Centre funded by York Region Community Investment Fund.
November Matching Campaign: Double Your Impact
Throughout November, all donations made to Yellow Brick House will be matched by the Grey Birch Foundation — up to a total of $25,000, with the potential of raising $50,000 in total, a Yellow Brick House news release stated.
The funds raised during this campaign will cover the annual costs of a shelter bed, providing shelter and life-saving services for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
“This matching campaign is an incredible opportunity for our supporters to amplify their contributions,” said Lorris Herenda, CEO of Yellow Brick House. “Every dollar donated throughout November will go twice as far, directly benefiting families in need of safety and support.”
Break The Silence – Echo Empowerment Art Show: A Call for Change
Yellow Brick House, in collaboration with the Richmond Hill Art Centre, funded by the York Region Community Investment, is presenting a powerful art initiative titled Break the Silence. This initiative will bring together youth to create and showcase artwork focused on themes of community safety, domestic violence awareness, and empowerment.
The culmination of this effort will be an inspiring art show at Mill Pond Gallery. Through their creations, young artists will raise their voices to spark conversation and advocate for change, highlighting personal stories and exploring themes of safety, support, and healing.
