The Regional Municipality of York has bee recognized by Forbes as one of Canada’s Best Employers for the fifth consecutive year.

York Region is the sixth-ranking government employer in Canada and ranks 189th overall among 300 organizations, according to a York Region news release.

Forbes and Statista selected Canada’s Best Employers 2025 based on independent surveys of over 40,000 employees working full-time or part-time for companies employing at least 500 people in Canada. Survey respondents were asked to rate their employer based on a range of criteria, including salary, pay equity, work flexibility and on-the-job training.

York Region joins other local businesses and organizations across our nine cities and towns recognized as some of Canada’s Best Employers for 2025, including the City of Markham.
