York Region’s vaccination clinics are going walk-in again, including COVID-19 and flu vaccines.
Regional public health announced the change Dec. 9, changing the policy of vaccinations being by appointment only, in place since September. Now, all of its clinics will have walk-ins available for vaccines of all ages, including the location in Newmarket.
“York Region Public Health recommends all residents keep up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations,” the region said on its COVID-19 site.
The region went to appointment-only with the introduction of the bivalent COVID-19 booster back in September, meant to better address Omicron variants of COVID-19. The region said at the time, it was a better way to manage supply and staff resources with an expected increase in demand.
But now, residents will be able to walk in at any clinic location. The walk-in availability applies to adult and pediatric COVID-19 vaccines along with flu shots.
However, you can still book an appointment ahead of time through york.ca/covid19vaccine. The region allows for bookings two weeks in advance.
The Newmarket clinic is located at 17150 Yonge St. Walk-in hours the next couple of weeks include tomorrow, Monday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Walk-in vaccinations are also available at the region’s clinic locations in Georgina, Markham, Richmond Hill and Vaughan.
