Thursday, June 15

Newmarket Make World Music Together: All are welcome to gather at Fairy Lake park at 7 p.m. to learn to make joyful, healing music. Bring your didgeridooos, hand pans, djembes, flutes, voices and other acoustic instruments from around the world for an intuitive music-making session that will relax, heal, open something new within, provide inner strength. East Gwillimbury Farmers Market: Every Thursday, rain or shine, the farmers market features local vegetables, artisan vendors, meat, cheese, baked goods, honey, soaps until Sept. 28 at the Civic Centre at 19000 Leslie St. in Sharon from 2 to 7 p.m. Some vendors may only accept cash payments.

Friday, June 16

Cinched Event's Pre-Pride Show: A drag performance kicks off Pride weekend in Newmarket at Old Flame Brewing Co. at 140 Main St. from 7 to 10 p.m. Hosted by Karma Kameleon with performances by Chimaera, Charlize Angel, Diana Dolce, Ella Mint and the Demon Queen of Kitchener, MissConduct. Tickets $17.31.

Rotary Club of Newmarket Golf Tournament: Join the Rotary Club for 18 holes of golf at Angus Glen's championship North Course for $195 per player. Lunch and registration at 12:30 p.m., shotgun start at 2 p.m., with on course contests, GPS power cart, $25 pro shop gift card. 

York Region Pride Fest: Join York Region in celebrating 10 years of the York Pride parade with a two-day festival. Events include Sparkling Night opening ceremonies at Riverwalk Commons (200 Duncan Dr.) Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., with young emerging artists and your favourite artists performing, including singing, dance, bands and drag. On Saturday, York Region Pride parade on Main Street on June 17 begins at 3 p.m. More information at yorkpride.ca/pridefestival  

Scotch and Whisky Tasting: Enjoy a tasting session from 6:30 to 8 p.m. that includes a history, the production process and tasting notes led by knowledgeable brand ambassador John MacPherson at the Vince's community room, Leslie St., Sharon. Participants will sample scotch brands from different regions of Scotland, as well as Canadian and Irish whisky. Light snacks will be served. Tickets $50.

Saturday, June 17

Fairy Lake Artisans Festival: North Newmarket Lions host the annual artisans festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Fairy Lake Park with 70 vendors offering one-of-a-kind handmade items.

Newmarket Farmers' Market: Note location is changed, and Zumba class cancelled, All Our Kids Play Park (Dinosaur Park), 525 Timothy St., due to York Pride event. Every Saturday morning from May through October, Riverwalk Commons in historic downtown Newmarket is transformed into a vibrant market space where our community gathers to support local food. Connect with local farmers, enjoy a delicious treat, discover unique artisans or take in some live music while visiting with family and friends. York Region Pride Fest: Join York Region in celebrating 10 years of the York Pride parade with more than 50 floats on Main Street from Queen to Water streets beginning at 3 p.m. From noon to midnight, visit Riverwalk Commons on Doug Duncan Drive for performances, vendors market. Slow Roll for Safe Streets: Cycle Newmarket hosts a four-km ride from 1 to 2 p.m. starting at Riverwalk Commons along streets and bike lanes "to show Newmarket that cyclists are legal, legitimate, and vulnerable road users who deserve respect and safe infrastructure." Adult/youth bikes only please.

Wine & Yoga: Zen Yoga with Jen presents Wine & Yoga from 4 to 6 p.m. at Holland Marsh Winery, 18270 Keele St., Newmarket. Tickets $65. [email protected].

The Markham Village Music Festival, June 16 to 17: York Region’s largest free music festival returns for its 46th year. The Markham Village Music features more than 60 performances, including Haviah Mighty, Maestro Fresh Wes, Wild T & The Spirit, Pan Fantasy Steel Band, Junestone and Blackboard Blues Band. The festival will also feature a Kidz Zone, the return of Barkham pet friendly zone, vendors including food trucks, businesses, community groups, artisans, and crafters, a live Beat-Box Showcase, taste of Markham diverse performances, farmers market and more. The festival takes place in historic on Main Street Markham (Markham Road) between Highway 7 to Bullock Road from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Fairy Lake Artisans Festival: North Newmarket Lions host the annual artisans festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Fairy Lake Park.

Polo for Heart, Toronto Polo Club in Richmond Hill, Saturday, June 24: Polo For Heart marks its 43rd year supporting advanced cardiac care at Southlake Regional Health Centre with events for the whole family. Busk Till Dusk, Fridays and Saturdays, June 23 to Sept. 2: Every Friday and Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m., street performers will showcase their talent on Main Street Newmarket. Busking brings a variety of performance art forms to the street, offering close-up entertainment for a tip in the hat that goes to support the entertainers themselves, and provides a sense of energy and buzz to the area. 3rd Annual Newmarket Craft Beer Festival, June 23 to 24: The Newmarket Craft Beer Festival showcases more than 25 craft breweries from across Ontario including Old Flame Brewery, Red Thread Brewery, Haven Brewery, The George Eatery and Brewery, Red Line Brewhouse and Founders Original, alongside culinary vendors, live music, free massages, games, yoga and zumba classes, Bark Zone and more at Fairy Lake Park, 520 Water St. Early bird tickets, starting at $15, are available communitycraftbeerfest.com/

Tim Hortons Canada Day, Saturday, July 1: Join the Town of Newmarket on Canada Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Riverwalk Commons, 200 Doug Duncan Dr., for a daytime concert and festival where you can enjoy rides on the Tim Hortons Express Train, face painting, food vendors, entertainment, Main Street festivities and more. Stop by George Richardson Park (Bayview Parkway) from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. for music by the Newmarket Citizens Band, a concert featuring Switchbeat and fireworks. newmarket.ca/canadaday
