Main Street Music Hall presents River Town Saints: Enjoy an intimate acoustic evening with River Town Saints with opener Andy Colonico from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at Old Flame Brewing Company Newmarket, 140 Main St. S.

Yuk Yuk's does Harmony Hall: Yuk Yuk's comedy night feature Jeff McEnery (LetterKenny), Dom Paré and  Andrew Barr from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Harmony Hall, 14663 Woodbine Ave., Gormley. $25 adv / $35 door.

Girls Inc. Snow Ball: Step into a magical evening fit for royalty at the inaugural Snow Ball, a heartwarming father-daughter dance to celebrate the special bond between fathers and daughters while supporting the mission of Girls Inc. of York Region from 6 to 8 p.m. at Eventmrkt (352 Doug Duncan Dr #1, Newmarket. Tickets $100 one father, one daughter.

Black History Month Art Exhibit: Stop by Newmarket Old Town Hall, 460 Botsford St., and the Elman W. Campbell Museum, 134 Main St. S., for a gallery exhibition celebrating Black History Month 2025. Through powerful visuals, artifacts and storytelling, you will explore the journeys of trailblazers who ruled their destinies and broke barriers in politics, science, arts and education. This exhibition invites you to reflect on the interconnectedness of individual triumphs and collective progress, honouring the legacy of those who shaped history and continue to uplift the community today.

Aurora Bridge Club: Play duplicate bridge weekly with the Aurora club at the Newmarket Veterans Association, 406 Millard Ave., from 12:15 to 4 p.m., open games Wednesdays and Fridays, Thursday 0-500. Price $6 to $10.

Central York Fire Services' INSPIRE: Central York Fire Services seeks to INSPIRE the next generation of first responders at its fourth annual celebration of International Women’s Day. The drop-in event is hosted by first responders and advocates for youth and minority groups, including York Regional Police, York Region Paramedic Services, Ontario Provincial Police, Seneca Polytechnic Firefighting program and more. Participants can meet and chat with firefighters, paramedics, police, entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations to learn about how they do their jobs and how others can follow a path to a rewarding career. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at CYFS Station 4-5, 300 Earl Stewart Drive, Aurora, indoors.

Aurora Cultural Centre presents Joe Newberry and April Verch: Newberry and Verch's show celebrates their musical roots, their love of performing and strong musical connection. Original folk songs join timeless classics, with stories to warm the heart, lively fiddle and banjo numbers to get the toes tapping and traditional dance steps that celebrate hearth and home. At Aurora Town Square, Davide De Simone Performance Hall, 50 Victoria St., at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $38.50.

Connon Nurseries Winter Farmers Market: Connon Nurseries, 1870 Davis Dr. West, King, holds a food and artisans market with an array of vendors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday until March 20.

14th Annual Girls Night Out, Thursday, March 6: For International Women's Day, NewRoads is bringing the glamour of New York’s Plaza Hotel to Newmarket for a night to remember, with delicious food and drinks, an expanded marketplace featuring women-owned businesses, goodie bags and raffle prizes throughout the night, keynote speaker Jenn Walker, all in support of Girls Inc.'s mission to empower young girls to grow into strong, bold, and confident women. Aurora Cultural Centre presents New Orford String Quartet, Friday, March 7: Four Canadian musicians with equally stellar pedigrees come together to form the JUNO Award-winning New Orford String Quartet. Toronto Symphony and Montreal Symphony concertmasters Andrew Wan and Jonathan Crow will be joined by Montreal Symphony’s principal cellist Brian Manker and the dynamic violist Sharon Wei. International Women’s Day Celebration 2025: Bravery Accelerates Action!, Friday, March 7: The Women's Centre of York Region and Newmarket Public Library invite you to celebrate International Women’s Day with Heather McWilliam, founder of Brave Inspires Brave and a former police officer, as guest speaker from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newmarket Library. Heather's journey from law enforcement to becoming a mental health and human rights advocate exemplifies the power of taking decisive action to overcome systemic barriers. Join for engaging activities and Heather's inspiring talk to explore ways to accelerate progress toward gender equality in both personal and professional spheres. Give Them Joy: An Evening with Author Catherine Hernandez, Friday, March 7: Meet award-winning author Catherine Hernandez during a special author event in celebration of International Women’s Day presented by Newmarket Library. Hernandez’s debut novel, Scarborough, was a literary sensation, winning her an emerging writer award and adapted into a film. Her other novels include Crosshairs, The Story of Us, and her latest, Behind You. The program includes a performance by York Chamber Ensemble of music created by women composers, as well as a presentation by award-winning poet and national poetry slam champion Desiree McKenzie. Register for Give Them Joy from 7 to 9 p.m. at Newmarket Old Town Hall, 460 Botsford St.

Newmarket Multicultural Heritage Festival, March 15 and 16: Toronto Cultural Mingle Association - Newmarket Chapter hosts the Newmarket Multicultural Heritage Festival at the Newmarket Community Centre and Lions Hall, 200 Doug Duncan Dr., from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday features a showcase of music and dance, Sunday features performances, arts and crafts, traditional showcases, international cuisine and interactive activities and games.

Senior Iranian Multicultural Association Art Exhibition, Sunday, March 16: Join SIMA for a free public launch of artwork by local Iranian seniors from 2 to 4 p.m. at Newmarket Public Library, multipurpose room. Tea and snacks provided. Artwork will remain up until March 25.

Cinema Sunday, March 30: Aurora Public Library, 15145 Yonge St., hosts a free movie, Conclave, from 2 to 4 p.m., with popcorn served, and a short discussion to follow. Drop-ins welcome.
