Chabad Newmarket will be hosting its annual menorah lighting ceremony at the Riverwalk Commins this weekend.

Friday, Dec. 27

Holiday Night of Lights:  A massive light show is arriving at Upper Canada Mall. Go through a walkway with more than 1.5 million LED lights, featuring food, carnival rides and more. Runs every weekend starting from 5 p.m. Adult tickets $20.99, more information at nightsoflights.ca. Runs until Jan. 4. 

Saturday, Dec. 28

Family Paint Party: Join a night of creativity and fun at Jack Astor's in Newmarket, hosted by the talented artists of Ghazal Fine Arts. Get ready to unleash your inner artist and create a beautiful masterpiece while sipping on your favorite drinks and enjoying delicious bites from the restaurant. Experienced instructors will guide you step-by-step through the painting process, ensuring that even the most novice painters leave with a work of art they can be proud of.! No prior painting experience necessary. The session begins at noon at 17380 Yonge St, tickets $39 available on Eventbrite.

Chanukah On Ice: Chabad Newmarket presents its annual menorah lighting ceremony at the Riverwalk Commons at 200 Doug Duncan Dr. Starting 3:30 p.m. with the lighting at 4:30 p.m., the event will include ice sculptures, skating, festive music and more.

Aurora's Menorah Lighting Ceremony, Sunday, Dec. 29: The Town of Aurora, in partnership with Chabad Aurora, will host this year's Menorah Lighting Ceremony. Everyone is welcome to attend this ceremony along with the local Jewish community as they celebrate the Festival of Light. The ceremony will include the lighting of the menorah, traditional foods and a fire performance show starting at 4 p.m. at Aurora Town Square, 50 Victoria St.

Newmarket's First Night, Tuesday, Dec. 31: Ring in the new year with fun for the whole family at Newmarket's free Tim Hortons First Night 2024 at Magna Centre, 800 Mulock Dr. beginning at 1 p.m. with skating, swimming, figure skating Performances courtesy of the Newmarket Skating Club, outdoor concert with Switchbeat and a spectacular fireworks show at 6 p.m.

Clock Strikes Midnight: Postmark Hotel New Year's Eve Party, Tues., Dec 31: The Postmark Hotel will be hosting a glamorous party with panoramic views. Sip champagne, snap photos and dance until the clock strikes midnight. Tickets are $86, doors open at 10:30 p.m.

New Year's Eve at Old Village Free House, Tues., Dec 31: Olde Village Free House on Main Street will have live music from Duvét Cover Band with a special menu and champagne at midnight. You can call early to reserve your table at 905-836-5370. Event begins at 9:30 p.m. at 196 Main St. S.

New Years's Eve 2025 at Fionn MacCools Newmarket: Fionn MacCools invited you to celebrate the new year with live music, good friends and dancing with The Hit Disturbers. Limited tickets available on Eventbrite costing $28. Located at 17315 Leslie St., doors open at 7 p.m. with music starting at 9 p.m. and a champagne toast at midnight. 

Aurora's Family First Night, Tues., Dec. 31: ​Celebrate the New Year with family and friends with free activities, including skating, swimming, bubble and magic shows, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Aurora Family Leisure Complex. Food donations for the Aurora Food Pantry are greatly appreciated.

Jack de Keyzer, Friday, Jan. 10: Back by popular demand, Jack de Keyzer perform at the Old Town Hall at 7:30 p.m. Opening this evening is local musician and longtime bluesman Patrick Fockler and his trio, including his brother and Newmarket resident Andrew Fockler on drums along with Jamie Nicholas on Fender Bass. Jack de Keyzer, guitarist, singer, song writer and producer performs his high energy original  blues, rock and soul charged music across Canada and the world in a career that is still going strong after 50 years. Tickets $40.

Campbell, Fagan and Park Trio, Friday, Jan. 17: Aurora Cultural Centre presents “Campbell, Fagan, Park Trio at Aurora Town Square Performance Hall at 7:30 p.m. Trio includes, James Campbell (clarinet), Leslie Fagan (soprano) and Angela Park (piano).Tickets $40.

Barefoot in the Park, Jan. 16 to 25: Newmarket Stage Company presents Neil Simon's Barefoot In The Park at Old Town Hall. Tickets, $20, at box office 289-500-2114 from noon to 5 p.m.
