A restaurant in Markham was temporarily closed, and a food establishment in Richmond Hill and two others in Markham were charged with food safety violations by York Region Public Health inspectors last week.
Flower and Horse in Spring Rice Noodle at 8362, unit A3, Kennedy Rd., in Unionville was ordered to close on April 9 for operating in a manner permitting a health hazard and failing to provide adequate protection against the entrance of insects, vermin or rodents, according to the public health inspection report.
The report notes a list of noncompliance items that include fail to provide adequate protection against the breeding of pests and fail to retain records of pest control measures taken for one year. Food handler education was conducted on-site.
Following re-inspection on April 10, health inspectors found satisfactory compliance, and a proof of public health sign was posted and the restaurant was reopened.
Jeon Ju Hyang at 5694, unit 14, Highway 7 in Markham was charged on April 11 for using an employee handwashing station other than for handwashing.
The report also notes non-compliance with fail to defrost potentially hazardous food properly.

Nak Won Korean Restaurant at 9625, units 3 to 7, Yonge St., in Richmond Hill was charged on April 12 for fail to provide a thermometer in refrigeration equipment and fail to ensure storage racks designed to protect against contamination.

Tang Dynasty Best Food at 8360, unit F5, in Markham was charged with use handwashing station other than for handwashing of employees on April 9.
The report notes non-compliance with fail to maintain the premises in a clean and sanitary condition.
