Calling all class clowns, applications are now open for the Leacock Student Humorous Essay Competition.
Ontario students between the ages of 14 and 19 in public, separate, private or home school systems can submit an original humorous story or humorous personal essay, up to 1,500 words.
A panel of three judges – who are all published authors – will rank and assess each submitted piece according to merit criteria, and the highest ranked three will be considered winners.
First prize is $1,500 along with two tickets for a Gala Dinner on June 22. The two runners-up will each get $750.
All three winners will get to attend a meet the authors and student showcase June 21 in Orillia.
The deadline for submissions is April 15.
