Speakers wanted for annual learning disability parent conference

The Learning Disabilities Association of York-Simcoe is seeking speakers to share their expertise with the learning disability community at this year’s parent conference in May.

The association has opened a call for experts in the field of learning disabilities across a range of perspectives and approaches, an association news release said.

Those selected will have the opportunity to assist in equipping parents with practical tools, strategies, and knowledge to support their children’s emotional well-being, academic success and future planning.

According to the submission form, topics should pertain to learning disabilities and provide information and resources to parents. Possible topics include social development, advocacy and self-advocacy, emotional regulation, mental well-being and behaviour regulation.

The sixth annual conference will begin with an informative keynote session before the participants choose from a variety of one-hour presentations on relevant topics. Each presentation will conclude with a Q&A session, according to the news release.

The conference will take place virtually on May 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. Those interested in joining will be able to through the organization’s website at the time of the conference.
