Those looking to escape the summer's heat wave will be happy to hear the Town of Newmarket is opening the Gorman Pool this weekend.
The pool at 424 D'Arcy St. opens for the season June 22 until September. Drop in from 2 to 8 p.m. most weekdays, 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
“Soak up the summer vibes all season at Newmarket’s Gorman Outdoor Pool,” the town said on social media.
The heated pool is a regular summertime hangout in the town and offers public, adult swims and parent and tot swims regularly throughout the week. It is accessible, has gradual slopes and offers lifeguard supervision, picnic benches and chairs.
New this year is the need to have an Xplor account, the town’s online recreation booking system, to access the pool.
“Make sure your Xplor account is activated and you’ve reviewed the admission standards,” the town said. “This will ensure a quick and easy check-in process.”
You can set up such an account on newmarket.ca/xplor. You can also find the full schedule for all of Newmarket’s pools on the municipal website.
