York Region Public Health inspectors charged a restaurant in a hospital in Vaughan with food safety violations last week.

According to a public health inspection report, Sodexo Food Retail Services (Subway) at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, 3200 Major Mackenzie Dr. West, was charged on Oct. 23 with failure to ensure food handlers on the premises washed their hands as necessary to prevent food contamination. It was investigated after public health received a complaint.

The report notes that the food handler failed to wash their hands. The offence was corrected during the inspection.

Health inspectors educated the food handler on site, proof of public health sign was posted, and a ticket was served.

York Region Public Health states the inspection report represents the condition of the restaurants at the date and time of the inspection only and does not guarantee or warrant the condition of the food premises at any other time.
