York Regional Police believe a fire that caused tens of thousands in damages at a business in Richmond Hill was started deliberately.
On Feb. 4 at about 8 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a commercial business in the area of Red Maple Road and High Tech Road for a reported fire.
Upon arrival, Richmond Hill Fire and Emergency Services were in the process of extinguishing the fire in two locations outside a store. The business was closed at the time and there were no injuries.
Investigators believe a male caught on video recording wearing a white baseball cap, black jacket, cuffed blue jeans, and black shoes is the suspect who started the fire.
The total damage of the fire is estimated to be close to $40,000 and police are asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or anyone with a video recording of suspicious activity to come forward.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7241, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com.
