Just weeks after wrapping up their Mother’s Day fundraiser in support of Inn from the Cold, sisters Manha and Laiba Yusuf are back with another campaign to raise money for the Newmarket homeless shelter.
The pint-sized philanthropists are selling fruit boxes, as well as dried fruit and nut platters to raise the critically needed funds.
Manha, who is 10 years old, said she likes to help the community because “there’s a lot of need out there.”
She added, “It makes me happy to support them.”
With the recent Mother’s Day fundraiser, the sisters were able to donate $2,500 to Inn from the Cold and they hope this one will be just as successful.
They accept orders with an online form, with pickup dates between June 18 and 20. Limited delivery is available.
Manha thanked local residents who have been so supportive, saying, “I have received a lot of strength and courage from all of you.”
Her younger sister Laiba, who is 8 years old, also helps by taking and packing orders, adding her “favourite fundraiser is the back to school fundraiser.”
She said the next drive, which will be taking place in July and August, will support 360kids in York Region. It will be their third annual back to school initiative.
The duo said they like working together as a family on these projects and were inspired by their aunt to give back.
