NEWS RELEASE
FIREHOUSE SUBS PUBLIC SAFETY FOUNDATION
*************************
To kick off GivingTuesday and the start of the charitable season on Dec. 3, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation invites shoppers to join the annual global day of giving by donating to support its mission of providing lifesaving equipment and needed resources to first responders and public safety organizations.
Since inception in 2005, the Foundation has granted more than $46 million to hometown heroes, including more than $641,000 in Canada. Through these charitable donations, the Foundation is able to provide services, equipment, and education to local first responders and the communities they serve.
Recently, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada donated $11,967 for carbon monoxide detector/smoke alarm units to Central York Fire Services. The donation purchased 324 of the alarms for citizens in need, at the annual open at the fire station on Gorham Street Sept. 28.
“The Foundation is committed to supporting those who protect and serve us every day,” said Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation executive director Robin Peters, CFRE. “We are grateful for the generosity of our donors who make it possible for the Foundation to give back to our local first responders. On GivingTuesday, donors can continue to support first responders and public safety organizations through online donations and in-restaurant fundraising at Firehouse Subs.”
Through donations ranging from automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in schools to extrication equipment for fire departments, the Foundation has provided more than 470 grants valued at over $9.3 million in 2019 alone throughout the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico to local first responder organizations.
Grant allocations are made possible thanks to the overwhelming support of Firehouse Subs restaurants and generous donors. Each restaurant recycles five-gallon pickle buckets, available to guests for a $3 donation to the Foundation. Donation canisters on register counters collect spare change, while the Round Up Program allows guests to “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar.
