Get ready to skate like its the 1970s at an upcoming disco skating event, hosted by the Newmarket Youth Leadership Group.
On Friday, Feb. 24, young folks from Newmarket and the nearby area are invited to take to the rink at Riverwalk Commons for the themed event.
The leadership group has planned it as an opportunity to engage the community, connect with other young people and raise awareness about the group, and most importantly as a fun social event.
The Newmarket Youth Leadership Group is a group of teenagers wanting to make the town a better place for young people. It regularly holds community events, like fundraisers, information sessions on high school and university, or social events like the skating night.
At the event, there will also be music, a performance from the Newmarket Skating Club, free snacks, and more live entertainment and other fun activities.
You are encouraged to break out your best retro disco digs as there will be prizes for the best costumes.
The event is completely free and there is no registration required. All you have to bring is your skates and your disco spirit.
It will start at 7 p.m. on Feb. 24. As it is an outdoor event, it is weather dependent.
