Newmarket unveiling new sports courts at Proctor, Environmental Park

Town hosting public information sessions Oct. 17 and Oct. 21 on new projects

Newmarket is inviting the public to learn more about new sports courts coming to Proctor Park and Environmental Park.

The municipality will host online public information centres this month to highlight the projects. The town has gathered feedback and surveyed residents over the past several weeks to figure out which sports should be featured at the new courts, whether pickleball, tennis, basketball, volleyball or something else.

“Thank you to the 600-plus residents that provided their feedback,” the municipality said in a news release.

The new sports courts are part of the town’s recreational and capital plan. The town has not yet disclosed the timeline for construction or what sports will be featured at the courts, but more information is coming with these public information centres.

Both the information centres will be held via a Zoom meeting, with the Proctor Park discussion happening Oct. 17 and the Environmental Park discussion happening Oct. 21. Both meetings will run from 7 to 8 p.m. Residents will have a chance to hear more about the projects, ask questions and provide additional feedback.

You can find more information and sign into the meetings through heynewmarket.ca/SportCourts.
