The Town of Newmarket wants your input on how it should brand itself to “enhance its reputation in Ontario and beyond.”

The municipality is looking for resident’s feedback on a new survey for its community brand strategy. The town plans to redo its branding and has put out an online survey closing Dec. 19, with participants entering into a draw to win one of 10 $25 Choose Local gift cards.

“As we continue to create one of the best communities in Canada, we are moving ahead with the community brand strategy as a way to bring Newmarket to the forefront of the hearts and minds of key talent throughout the GTA and beyond for many years to come,” Mayor John Taylor said in a news release.

The municipality opened a $1 million reserve fund this year dedicated to economic vibrancy, which includes this upcoming rebranding exercise.

The town said the branding initiative stands to further economic development by attracting top businesses, differentiating Newmarket from other communities and increasing vibrancy in the local arts and culture scene.

The town is working on the rebranding with marketing agency MMGY. The agency will also be having one-on-one conversations with hundreds of community members and groups as part of the rebranding process.

The survey asks questions like using adjectives to describe the town and what connects residents in the community.

The town said the brand strategy is part of Newmarket council’s priority to advance community and economic vibrancy.

“The goal is to strengthen Newmarket’s reputation as a vibrant place to live for entrepreneurs, artists, and knowledge workers, building a strong local and innovative economy,” the town said.
