Central York Fire Services invites Aurora and Newmarket residents to its open house Saturday, Sept. 21 at station 4-5 in Aurora.

You can stop by for morning coffee and doughnuts, barbecued hot dogs, Tim Hortons Express Train, arts and crafts, prizes, games, Sparky the Fire Dog, interactive fire safety activities, demonstrations and more.

New this year, CYFS is offering a Dunk Tank for Good. Purchase three balls for $5 with all proceeds donated to the Hawkins-Gignac Foundation, which aims to prevent carbon monoxide tragedies.

"The annual open house is an opportunity for the community to get to know their local fire department and learn more about simple but important actions everyone can take to prevent fires at home," a CYFS news release said. "It’s an educational event the kids will love."

The event is in recognition of Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 6 to 12, which focuses on the importance of having working smoke alarms in homes.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with live firefighter demonstrations at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., at the station at 300 Earl Stewart Dr., Aurora.
