The Town of Newmarket is inviting you to bring alive its historic buildings through the world of LEGO.

The Elman W. Campbell Museum is hosting a first-ever Heritage Building LEGO Competition. Participants will depict an existing Newmarket heritage building — built before 1920 — through LEGO for the upcoming Ontario Heritage Week in May.

"Unlock your inner architect," the municipality said on social media. "Start planning your creations now because there are prizes up for grabs!"

The museum is offering a $100 cash prize and $50 second-place prize in the categories of 12 and under and 13 and over. Models must be at least six inches in height but no larger than 60 cm wide, 60 cm in depth and 90 cm in height.

The deadline for the event is May 4. You can drop off submissions from April 30 to May 4 at the Elman W. Campbell Museum, located at 134 Main St. S.

The community will be invited to visit and vote for their favourite creation May 7 to 11.
