The Town of Newmarket is inviting kids to chill out together over the upcoming winter break.

The municipality is opening registration Nov. 8 for its Winter Break Camp running Dec. 20 to 23 and 27 to 30. The camps at the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex are for kids aged four to 12 and feature a variety of activities, including sports, crafts, movies and skating, running 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Skates, a hockey helmet and warm clothes are required.

“Join us over the holidays for a fun-filled week,” the town said.

COVID-19 screening is required for the camp, as are masks indoors. Campers 12 and older must also be vaccinated. The town said it will adjust policy accordingly should provincial guidelines change.

Newmarket cancelled all its recreation and culture programming throughout 2020 due to the pandemic, but brought back camp programs in the summer as restrictions loosened.

Registration opens on newmarket.ca/camps Nov. 8 for residents and Nov. 15 for non-residents. Each three-day session costs $145 for residents and $175 for non-residents.
