A train sets out from the Newmarket GO station.

Metrolinx is coming to the Newmarket Public Library to offer information about the ongoing GO train expansion for Newmarket and Aurora.

The Metrolinx York-Simcoe Community Engagement team will be at the library on Nov. 21 to talk about the expansion of the Barrie corridor. The transit service is adding an extra track between Union Station and Aurora GO to help create an all-day, two-way, 15-minute service on the corridor.

“Stop by to hear more about Metrolinx service and what the future transportation will look like for the community and riders,” the event notice said.

The transit service is attempting to bring expanded service to most of the GO network. Construction is ongoing at the Aurora GO station, which will include enhancements like a new passenger drop-off area, a new exit at Berczy Street and an extension of pedestrian tunnels with elevators.

The engagement session will happen from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Newmarket Public Library.
