York Region Public Health inspectors charged three restaurants for public health violations in the past week.
H2 KTV and Wei’s Kitchen in Markham along with Mediterranean and Persian Kabob House in Richmond Hill all face separate charges after issues in inspections, dating back to Nov. 18.
H2 KTV at 30-6801 Warden Ave. faced issues for not maintaining clean floors in the food-handling room and failing to protect food from contamination or adulteration. The contamination was addressed during a Nov. 18 inspection. The inspectors did education on site, posted a proof of public health sign and served a ticket, according to a report from York Region Public Health.
Wei’s Kitchen at 13-3229 Hwy 7 E. in Markham faces an offence of failing to sanitize multi-service articles after use. After finding the issue on Nov. 18 and having an acceptable temporary measure put in place, inspectors returned for a re-inspection the next day and completed education on-site. Inspectors also served a ticket.
Mediterranean & Persian Kabob House, located at 3-141 King Rd. in Richmond Hill, faced a charge for maintaining potentially hazardous foods at internal temperatures between four and 60 degrees Celsius. The public health report states the issue was found during a Nov. 19 inspection, but was corrected during that inspection. The inspection also found issues with failing to keep all equipment in good repair and keeping a certified food handler during all hours of operation, but neither of those led to charges.
The report said inspections completed education on-site, had an acceptable temporary measure in place, posted a proof of public health sign and served a ticket. A re-inspection is to be conducted at a later date.
The public health unit states the inspection report represents the condition of the restaurants at the date and time of the inspection only and does not guarantee or warrant the condition of the food premises at any other time.
