A Markham restaurant and Richmond Hill child care centre were charged with food safety violations by York Region Public Health inspectors last week.

Keung Kee Congee at 7030 Warden Ave., unit D1, was charged July 30 with the food premise not maintained with the food handling room in sanitary condition.

A report of non-compliance notes failure to provide a thermometer in hot-holding equipment, failure to ensure the facility surface is cleaned as necessary, and failure to maintain the premises in a clean and sanitary condition.

Food handler education was conducted on-site. A re-inspection will be conducted later and a ticket was served.

Loveview Early Learning at 10856 Bayview Ave., units 117 to 121, was charged Aug. 1 for handwashing stations not conveniently accessible by food handlers.

Food handler education was conducted on-site, health inspectors conducted mandatory food handler certification, a proof of public health sign was posted and a ticket was served.

York Region Public Health states the inspection report represents the condition of the restaurants at the date and time of the inspection only and does not guarantee or warrant the condition of the food premises at any other time.
