Firefighters battled a large barn fire at Brooks Farms in Mount Albert Tuesday night.
No injuries are reported in the Dec. 4 blaze, according to a Brooks Farm Facebook post: “Hard day here everyone but the worse is over and emergency services have been stellar. Thanks for all the support. We’ll update up tomorrow. Still no power at the house but no one was hurt.”
The barn destroyed by fire is the 150-year-old heritage one, not the Farm Market, according to an updated Facebook post, as well as part of "playland" and surrounding buildings.
Brooks Farms, a family-run farm in Mount Albert, hosts popular family friendly events year-round, including pumpkin festivals and holiday markets.
Hundreds of comments have been flooding in, along with condolences and prayers.
“Thankful everyone is okay...so sad to see the fire,” wrote Tania SG.
“I am absolutely devastated to hear about the fire. Thank god everyone is okay. My family loves Brooks Farm. We have been going here for years. Thoughts are with the family,” wrote Kristy Webber.
Others offered to help and assist in any way they can, with one woman even suggesting a community fundraiser.
The farm is located in the area of Mount Albert Road and the York Durham Line.
