Vancouver singer-songwriter Stephen Fearing is performing at the Newmarket Legion April 22.

The event, hosted by the Newmarket Folk Society, features one of Canada's most celebrated musicians, who has released 12 solo albums, and has collaborated with artists such as Bruce Cockburn, Rosanne Cash, Richard Thompson, Cassandra Wilson, Nick Lowe, Sarah McLachlan, Rose Cousins, Murray McLauchlan, Margo Timmins, Erin Costelo, and Suzie Vinnick, says a news release.

He's performed at intimate venues, concert halls, and festivals of all sizes, including major events like the Stanfest, Reading Festival, Shrewsbury Folk Festival, and WOMAD.

In 1996, he co-founded Canadian group Blackie and The Rodeo Kings with Colin Linden and Tom Wilson. Almost 25 years later and with nine albums to their credit, the band has become one of the most respected names in North American roots-rock.

Fearing also released two albums and toured as one half of the duo Fearing & White with Andy White.

Fearing has had multiple Juno and Canadian folk music nominations and awards and an ever-expanding touring circuit throughout North America, the U.K., and Europe.

The Newmarket concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online or by calling 705-431-7182 (leave a message).
