Temporary lane closures will be in place on Mulock Drive in Newmarket from now until November for traffic signal modifications.
The work is taking place at the intersection of Mulock Drive and College Manor Drive/Fernbank Road.
The upgrades will include reconstructing the traffic signal to meet Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act requirements. This includes replacing the buttons with accessible pedestrian signals and adding tactile indicators on the ground for people with no or low vision, a construction notice from York Region states.
Work starts in August and is expected to last until November 2021.
During that time, lane closures will be required between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
However, the intersection will remain open to traffic.
Drivers are asked to slow down while passing through the construction area.
Further east, road resurfacing work has also resulted in lane closures on Bayview Avenue from Mulock to Gorham Street.
That project began in June 2021 and is expected to finish sometime in the fall.
