IKEA is opening its fourth Canadian customer distribution centre Sept. 19 in York Region.

"This new centre marks the next step in IKEA’s transformation journey to become the leading multi-channel home furnishings retailer and will contribute to a more convenient customer experience and increased growth for the retailer in the region," said Michael Ward, president of IKEA Canada.

The 550,000-square-foot Kleinburg distribution centre, which will be operated by DHL Supply Chain, will focus on delivery directly to customers’ homes.

The Highway 50 centre will not be open to the public and will complement IKEA’s four stores in the GTA.

IKEA also has customer distribution centres in Vancouver, Montreal and Mississauga.
