York Region residents who are aged 80 years of age and older can book second dose COVID-19 vaccination appointments beginning Monday, May 31.
Who qualifies?
Residents aged 80+ who already have a second dose appointment booked can choose to re-book an earlier appointment.
Residents aged 80+ who do not yet have a second dose appointment can also book an online appointment.
Appointments are required. Walk-in appointments are not available.
Anyone who received AstraZeneca from March 10 onward will also become eligible on May 31 for a second AstraZeneca dose at a 12-week interval from their first dose.
When can I book?
Beginning Monday, May 31 at 8:30 a.m.
How do I book a new earlier appointment?
New appointments can be booked online or by phone by visiting york.ca/COVID19Vaccine.
Residents who are not able to or comfortable with booking online are encouraged to get assistance from a caregiver, family member or friend to book on their behalf.
Telephone support is also available and is listed under each applicable clinic.
"Given the expected high volume of web activity and telephone support, wait times may be longer than usual and service disruptions on york.ca may occur. Please continue to be patient," York Region spokesperson Patrick Casey said.
Do not visit a clinic without an appointment, you will be turned away.
Do I have to book an appointment at the same clinic where I received my first dose?
No, you can book your dose at any clinic in the province.
I already have an appointment scheduled that I want to keep, will it be cancelled?
Previously booked second dose appointments will not be cancelled unless a new and earlier appointment is confirmed.
When will residents aged 70 and older be eligible for their earlier second dose appointment?
Dr. Karim Kurji, York Region’s medical officer of health, said the public health unit anticipates moving to the 70 to 79 age band as early as mid-June.
By the last week of June, individuals who received their first dose between March 8 and April 18 will become eligible. This could include individuals with the highest-risk health conditions and special education workers.
Does the earlier second doses for seniors impact the second dose distribution for other eligible residents, like high-risk health-care workers?
Second doses will continue to be administered to other eligible individuals as directed by the province.
