It's a time-honoured holiday tradition that marks the passing years of childhood in many family photo albums: the picture with Santa Claus at the local mall.
From the guileless baby, and the timid sometimes tearful two-year-old, to the savvy six-year-old, children of all ages are brought to their local malls to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what's on their Christmas wish list.
Santa has arrived at the Holly Jolly Lodge in the Central Court at Upper Canada for this year's photos, with an all-new photo experience offered until Dec. 24. Click here for the hours.
You'll discover a 30-feet decorated tree you can walk into, along with a phone booth where children can listen to holiday messages from the North Pole and a colouring station.
You can skip the line with a Santa Fast Pass that reserves your spot.
Bring your furry friends for a photo with Santa, too, Nov. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.
In partnership with Autism Ontario York Region, Upper Canada is offering Silent Santa at the Holly Jolly Lodge. The private Santa photo experience is offered Saturday, Nov. 17 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Sunday, Nov. 18 from 8 to 10 a.m.
When you come for your photo with Santa, remember to bring a toy donation in support of Salvation Army and Holiday Heroes, benefiting families in York Region this holiday season.
Other festive events at Upper Canada include interactive culinary workshops and an outdoor tree lot at Market & Co., the new 40,000-square-feet food market.
From outdoor wreath design to “Kids in the Kitchen Baking Extravaganza” and “Vino and Cocoa” tasting, this season’s Kitchen & Co. schedule is packed with events, classes and experiences for everyone. Visit shopmarketandco.com for details and registration.
Starting Dec. 1, gift wrapping will be available thanks to volunteers at Community Living Central York. Donations will be accepted and all proceeds go to Community Living Central York’s Happy Hearts Campaign.
