The Town of Georgina has announced Sunday, April 3 as the new date for the Erin Ambrose Day.
Residents and sports enthusiasts alike are invited to attend the meet and greet with the Olympic gold medallist and Keswick native. Fans will have an opportunity to meet Ambrose, take photographs and get her autograph during her visit at the Georgina Ice Palace in Keswick.
Residents are also invited to a free public skate, with pre-registration required at georgina.ca/events.
Anyone who registered for the free skates on Sunday, March 27 —the originally scheduled Erin Ambrose Day — is able to use that time for free public skating on that date. However, to participate in the new April 3 date and skate times, you will need to pre-register for the new date and times, the town said in a news release.
"Those attending are encouraged to show their hockey spirit by wearing their favourite hockey jersey, or to dress in red and white in support of our Canadian teams. Fans will line the entryway to the Georgina Ice Palace to give Erin a special hometown welcome before proceeding inside for the special meet and greet."

When: April 3, the first skating session will begin at 1 p.m. with Ambrose arriving at 2 p.m. for the ceremony and meet and greet.

Erin recently captured gold with the Canadian women’s hockey team at the winter Olympics in Beijing. She is a talented athlete with a long history of accomplishments including playing for Team Canada last year at the International Ice Hockey Federation women’s world hockey championship, also capturing gold.
