Georgina marks Small Business Week with series of events

Open houses, workshops, networking opportunities and the annual Georgina Chamber of Commerce conference take place Oct. 21 to 25

The Town of Georgina, local organizations and business are celebrating Small Business Week Oct. 21 to 25 with open houses, workshops, networking opportunities and the annual Georgina Chamber of Commerce conference.

The week kicks off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Georgina Chamber of Commerce, followed by the series of events designed to connect entrepreneurs, showcase resources and celebrate the business community.

Key partners include YSpace Georgina, the Georgina Chamber of Commerce, Georgina Public Library, South Lake Futures, Toastmasters and York Region Small Business Enterprise Centre.

A highlight of the week is the Entrepreneur Spotlight Market on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at YSpace Georgina, 1 Market St. in Sutton, from 2 to 5 p.m. This event features a diverse array of local entrepreneurs that have benefited from YSpace programming, showcasing unique products and innovative services. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet business owners and explore their contributions to the community.

“Georgina's small businesses play an integral role in shaping our communities and economy,” said Mayor Margaret Quirk in a news release. “They create jobs, support local community events and initiatives and sports teams, and offer diverse products and services to residents and visitors. I thank them for their continued investment in our communities and for being Georgina ambassadors. This Small Business Week, I encourage you to support local, celebrate together at our events and become aware of the resources available to help small businesses grow.”
