Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Newmarket - Georgina - Northern York Region
  • Uxbridge - Beaverton - Northern Durham Region

Freezing rain tonight followed by gusty winds Sunday.

Freezing rain will begin late this evening or after midnight. The freezing rain will change to rain by early Sunday morning as temperatures rise above the freezing mark. The areas most likely to see prolonged freezing rain include higher terrain areas such as the Dundalk Highlands and the Oak Ridges Moraine.

In addition, southwest winds gusting to 70 or 80 km/h will develop on Sunday and continue for much of the day.

The freezing rain is associated with a Colorado Low that will track through Northeastern Ontario on Sunday.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
